Boogie Down U.S.A.

Released

Great sounding Philadelphia International Records album from 1975 when there were plenty of records like this one that trod the line between soul, funk and the emerging disco sound. So tracks like ‘Nursery Rhymes’ are pure mid-70s funk while ‘Do It Any Way You Wanna’ is much more a proto-disco track with that rigid 4/4 disco beat. The instrumentation is wonderfully tight and in the pocket and the overall vibe is of a transitional record, with one foot in the funk camp, and the other in disco.
