Fengselsfugl

Released

This Norwegian guitarist is looking into all the spaces that used to get looked into by all the cocktail and lounge buddies of the 90s: soundtracks, Ry Cooder, Morricone, general cabaret ambience. Their first album, Bedehus & Hawaii, took a more easygoing approach, not that Fengselfugel is exactly a rough and ready album. The electric guitar sets up themes that the pedal steel sings, and the mood here is solemn and the voices are sublime, elevated, careful. The steel even does singing like a theremin, if you need sci fi in your big lonesome strings.
