Argentine composer Gustavo Leguizamón, a.k.a. “Cuchi” (an ancient Quechua word meaning “pig”), is the subject of this series of 24 arrangements by guitarist Pablo Márquez. Inspired by Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, these pieces cast new light on Cuchi’s rousing zambas and lyrical vidalas. Life-giving energies come across in every gesture, whether coaxing the strings into loving submission or bowing to their electrical charge. Hopefully, this unique program will inspire a deeper and more widespread interest in a composer rarely heard outside his homeland.
