Haydn: Paris Symphonies

Released

Thomas Fey was nearly halfway through a monumental project to record all of Haydn’s 104 Symphonies with the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, the period instrument ensemble he founded in 1993, when he suffered a traumatic fall in 2014. He has since been unable to take the podium, a tragedy only compounded by the brilliance of his performances, which, with their brisk tempos and punchy low end, serve as a thrilling referendum on long-held Haydn orthodoxies, crackling with wit, humor, vivacity, and delight.
