There’s a slider you can ooch around, choosing how much rhythm you want in your doom, how much spa in your murder, how much detail you want in your clouds. There’s a lot of vendors here, from The Caretaker to GAS to Basic Channel to Ben Frost. How much noise? How much kick? Dial it in and bring your choice to the cashier. Wolfgang Voigt (aka Gas) has been working his soapy kicks and pads since the late Nineties and he has a take on this whole bombed out ghost house situation. He likes a bit of sparkle in his smoke, and a lil pep in his skeleton steps. I don’t think you can tell right away, but Königsforst uplifts in a way that isn’t immediately apparent. Let this one roll and all of the gray droplets begin to glimmer as they sit. There are even some harp samples? Maybe? Once the flow begins, you are taken away, for real.
