If you want evidence of alchemical reactions, start here. Both Fracture and Sam Binga are best known for drum’n’bass and adjacent sounds, but in their collaborative sessions they stumbled on a sound that is nothing like anything in either’s catalogue. Very roughly speaking this is an electro album, the beats leaning towards Two Lone Swordsmen, Drexciya and Underground Resistance in “Final Frontier” mode. But the bleeps, chords and lead melodies are more like classic 90s UK arena electronica of the Orbital, Future Sound Of London ilk — the kind of thing that Daniel Avery and Bicep have latterly rejuvenated so successfully. But this is greater than the sum of its parts: from those elements grow whole teeming forests of groove and riff, tracks that completely surround you and lead you off into their weird late-night world.
