Songs like “Thru The Flowers” and especially “Crash” had established the Primitives as late 80s UK indie favorites, but it was their second full album Pure which showed they had a secret knack for a longer listen beyond the brilliant quick hits. There’s still plenty of immediate sparkle and kick with songs like “Secrets” and “Sick of It,” but the slower, dreamier spin on things audible on “Summer Rain” and “Shine” showed a wider appreciation for 60s psych pop coming to the fore in turn.
