Revolutions

Released

Nine Steve Cobby tracks, named “Revolution #1” through “Revolution #9,” ranging from tranquil abstract synthology to gently swinging hybrid jazz, psych-fuzz electro, tripped-out experi-synth grooves and dreamy, gently evolving deep house. Cobby as ever successfully marries his beats, bass and dancefloor dynamics to many different tempos and moods, all coloured with sophisticated melodies and endlessly creative soundscaping. And everywhere beats: drums, percussion, rhythms, polyrhythms, fills, rolls, paradiddles, spotlessly sampled, played, assembled or sequenced, swinging, shuffling, trudging or galloping, and so often effortlessly funky, there’s a sense that every snare, conga, hi-hat and tom were carefully, lovingly selected, shaped and worked into place. Alternatively light and playful, brash and uncompromising, restrained and meditative, warm and welcoming, Revolutions is as accomplished as it is varied.
