Talk About The Weather

Released

Frequently lost in all the traffic that emerged from the English belfries around them, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry advertised the raw appeal of the post-punk/goth sound on the side of their van. Minimalist and angular, RLYL denied a connection to the Goth scene, just like their other vampiric brethren. It’s a little more convincing coming from them — they sound angry, not gloomy. Chris Reed’s acerbic vocals on the opening title track feel closer to rapping than Andrew Eldritch intonations. The strongest gems they pull from the darkness, “Hollow Eyes” and “Beating My Head,” rank amongst the best examples of poison pop to come out of the eighties.
