‘Til the Band Comes In

Released

Done in something of a rush towards the end of 1970, ‘Til The Band Comes In, which like its predecessor Scott 4 failed to chart, was seen for many years as a notable fall-off from the heights of Scott Walker’s late 60s. In recent years it has gained more relative attention as a fascinatingly flawed affair, not least because much of his regular collaborative team, including arranger Angela Morley, worked on the album. Certainly Walker in a relative rut beats a lot of acts at their best, with his Side 1 originals like “Thanks for Chicago Mr. James” the standouts.
