Although jungle emerged from the cauldron of underground London dance clubs in the early 1990s, its roots in reggae music ensured that a significant religious and political thread would continue to run through the genre. That influence is completely up front on this 1995 release from pioneering junglist Congo Natty, who works closely with champion MC Blackstar to present a program of hard-hitting jungle numbers almost all of which explicitly celebrate the legacy of Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie, whom Rastafari adherents revere as a deity.
