Swedish sludge slimeballs with a serious soft spot for Southern supergroup Down, Roachpowder delivered pretty potent pest poison on their debut. From antisocial opener “Get Out Of My Way” to slowburn soliloquies like “Galactic Blues” and “Black Stone” – with a stop in the sound’s birthplace, “New Orleans” – this feels like a tourist’s eye view of a faraway scene, but you’d be hard-pressed not to mistake them for natives. At the very least it’s proof that misery is international.
