Among their many other achievements, the Indo-English band Cornershop can claim the unlikely accomplishment of charting internationally with a pop tribute to legendary Bollywood playback singer Asha Bhosle. It’s only one of the more whimsical moments on an album filled with charming oddities and irresistible hooks. Among the former are a cover of the Beatles’ “Norwegian Wood” and a music setting of Allen Ginsberg’s “When the Light Appears Boy”; among the latter are “Funky Days Are Back Again” and that Asha Bhosli song.
