Catholic Girls

Released

The Catholic Girls earned their name the honest way – the band was literally formed by Catholic schoolgirls. The sole full-length from their original run shows why these nubile new wavers earned slots opening for Tom Petty and The Kinks. Gail Petersen’s full-throated warble bears a resemblance to Stevie Nicks’s, and songs like “C’est Impossible” and “Private School” have that early Go-Gos/Blondie wide-eyed charm. They rode that school bus into obscurity, but this is a lost power-pop gem.
