Fully Exposed

Released

Just how overlooked singer, guitarist and songwriter Willie Hutch’s catalogue has been in Motown’s history remains a bizarre, musical injustice. Fully Exposed from ’73 was his third album, his first for Motown and is just packed with the yearning chord progressions and bittersweet melodies that Hutch seemed to be able to churn out effortlessly. The production here is big — rich orchestration, complex, intricate instrumentation and with plenty of Hutch’s signature slick guitar licks. Effortlessly moving between epic soul ballads and lavishly orchestrated street soul, Fully Exposed is an album that just drips out of the speakers like honey.
