Klaatu

Released

Klaatu’s biggest success came when a credulous reviewer posited that they were a secretly-reunited Beatles. The label did little to dispel that error, because why would they? Admittedly, their psych/prog definitely bore a resemblance to the Liverpudlian’s’, even if these extraterrestrials originated in Canada. Song titles like “True Life Hero” and “Sir Bodsworth Rugglesby III” certainly didn’t help the confusion. Even if it isn’t up to the standards of the Fab Four, they craft some delightfully sunny tunes, including the pro-alien life “Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft” and yet another ode to the Golden State from the Great White North, “California Jam.”
