Mullah Said

Released

While much of Muslimgauze’s music can fairly be characterized as aggressive and even confrontational, Mullah Said is more… unsettling. The loops he has chosen are quieter than usual, the percussion more subtle, the vocal samples less obviously angry. But there’s something eerie about the layers of santoor and drums and voices on “Muslims Die India” (the title contributes to that vibe as well), while the title track is based on the distant sound of the call to prayer and a gentle drum machine beat — then additional elements come in and out of the mix, making it both odd and weird. And, of course, very cool.
